experience
Supported the launch campaign and operations of the EOS missions as a lead subsystem engineer.

Senior Guidance, Navigation & Control Subsystem Engineer (05/01-11/04)
Flight Software Spacecraft Subsystem Engineer (02/01 – 01/02)
Communication Spacecraft Subsystem Engineer (01/98 – 05/01)

* GN&C Operations: Maintained Health and Safety of the GN&C subsystem.
- Worked with the Flight Dynamics team to plan and execute all maneuvers.
- Actuators include chemical propulsion systems (on/off pulse control), pyramid-scheme reaction wheels and torquer rods.
- Suite of sensors includes Solid State Star Trackers, Earth sensors (bolometer and thermal designs), Inertial Reference Units (mechanical and optical designs), Sun sensors and magnetometers.
* Spacecraft Communication Operations: Maintained the Ku, S and X bands Communication systems. Assisted the Terra Mission Operations Director in negotiating adequate a line-of-sight mask with NASA JPL to minimize RFI.
* Flight Software Operations: Tested and implemented software patches to attitude control flight code and algorithms.
* Risk Assessment: Performed analytical risk assessment and mitigation as part of the team to perform Terra's first-ever Deep Space Maneuver. Presented results and received execution approval from NASA Safety and Mission Assurance Board.
* Analysis, Simulation and Testing: Used Matlab, STK, Free Flyer and other in-house Attitude Determination Systems to estimate and predict attitude control performance during different mission phases.

Organize and manage the technical work of eight flight engineers and provide technical leadership to the Mission Operations Director during the NPP launch campaign.

* Coordinate with Operations Director to ensure the readiness of flight tasks with the ground system schedule and mission milestones.
* Manage the flight engineering staff to support the Operations Director when troubleshooting ground system problems, including the writing of validation plans for the various components of the ground system.
* Defined the engineering content of 14 Spacecraft Operational Exercises with the flight hardware. These tests ensured the readiness of flight products and ground systems to minimize risks due to ground system and simulator limitations.
* Presented status at mission reviews chaired by NASA.
* Worked with the spacecraft and sensor vendors to resolve discrepancies between documentation and observed performance.
* Managed the creation and validation of flight products through Flight-Ready certification.
Flight Operations Technical Lead for the NPOESS Preparatory Program (NPP):
Head of Ground Segment Division
Responsible for requirement analysis and costing, development schedule, delivery and integration of ground systems.
* Project Management: Managed the development and deployment of the Mission Planning Ground System (MPS) for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and of the Communication Payload Management tool (SmartRings) to SES.
- Organized the development schedule and tasks for two teams of engineers, one as a subcontractor in Madrid, Spain, in charge of generic product development and the other locally, in charge of developing mission specific components.
- Ensured that mission requirements were adequately implemented for each separate development effort while maintaining overall design compatibility.
- Performed timely deliveries and system integration accepted by the customer.
* Business Procurement: Traveled to customer locations in the US, Europe and South America as part of GMV's business procurement team.
- Responded to Requests for Information/Proposals, wrote Statements of Work.
- Regularly handled ITAR information.
- Presented GMV's technology at business meetings and conferences.
* Requirements Design, Analysis, Testing and Validation: Analyzed ground system requirements for GEO and LEO missions during proposal and implementation phases.
- Wrote level one through level four requirements for the communications payload management tool (SmartRings) provided to SES Americom and SES Astra as well as the level four requirements for the LRO MPS.
- Oversaw the testing and verification of requirements.
* System Integration: Analyzed and defined system interfaces between GMV's software and the customer's control center network.
- Wrote the ICD for the Worldspace integration of GMV's Flight dynamic Suite (focus) and Integral Systems' real-time system (EPOCH). Defined an adapter between focus' CORBA interface and EPOCH's processed telemetry interface.
- Lead the integration of GMV's software in customer control centers, including the payload management system deployed at SES Americom and GMV's Command and Control system into the NASA Goddard Mission Systems Evolution Center (GMSEC).
* Software Development: Developed software application prototypes in Visual Basic to demonstrate new functionality to customers.
- Coded and delivered a customized software prototype of SmartRings to SES Americom for their AMC 14 payload
- Architected the functional design of the customized Memory Model, Stored Command and Ephemerides Load Builders for LRO.
- These prototypes helped secure the sale and lower the development risk of these systems.
